From my study of this period, THE key tak...Lorenzo

From my study of this period, THE key takeaway, which serves as the kind of Grundnorm, if you will, is Allah's Sovereignty over his EMPIRE.

Those who have submitted to Allah the Sovereign - and thus benefit from his mercy - have done so by simultaneously agreeing to enlist as a soldier to not only protect/maintain Allah's existing empire, but keep fighting until the infidels who have not yet submitted (those who live in the World of War) DO submit to Allah.

Muhammad was thus the equivalent of rolling Christ, Paul, and Constantine all into one.

But unlike the Christian's evangelism being driven by Christ's snooty refusal to return for a 2nd time until humans clean their act up [a hangover from Yahweh's capriciousness and moodiness], the Muslim's compulsion is more demanded by good old-fashioned imperialism - temporal Sovereignty over the lands of the entire earth. And then again, there was the passive Jews, whose Holy Book makes no demands on conversion or imperialism.

The poor old Jews are just supposed to go about the place, and by their very EXAMPLE of godliness, the rest of humanity would mend its wicked ways, and start behaving themselves. This what is meant by "God's Chosen People." God, never picked out the Jews as being better than anyone else, or even having a VIP pass to Heaven. Rather, that His part of the compact, when He agreed not to destroy the Earth.

The Biblical exhorting to evangelize is not about imperialism.Peter Pattonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2197051945822486684.post-37082115278854351372010-06-15T21:53:21.012+10:002010-06-15T21:53:21.012+10:00Thanks, absolutely and thank you very much for poi...Thanks, absolutely and thank you very much for pointing me to it.Lorenzohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00305933404442191098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2197051945822486684.post-11076766271439099242010-06-15T14:55:17.298+10:002010-06-15T14:55:17.298+10:00I'm glad you explored that piece by Shiv Malik...I'm glad you explored that piece by Shiv Malik in such detail, Lorenzo - it's fascinating, isn't it?Legal Eaglehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01096038577529334966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2197051945822486684.post-6774094411138849272010-06-14T13:56:20.772+10:002010-06-14T13:56:20.772+10:00But treating everyone equally does not get the &qu...But treating everyone equally does not get the "right" results, don't you know? :)

Contemporary status games do indeed lead to strange places.Lorenzohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00305933404442191098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2197051945822486684.post-69899193381264289842010-06-14T11:26:25.293+10:002010-06-14T11:26:25.293+10:00Please note Lorenzo that if you don't give spe...Please note Lorenzo that if you don't give special treatment and consideration it is because you are prejudiced!!
A strange synonym perhaps but shouldn't the other be the same, aren't we all just people.
David.entechhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12411294761069789524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2197051945822486684.post-13383088867128166962010-06-14T01:03:47.975+10:002010-06-14T01:03:47.975+10:00(1) It was Shiv Malik who comments on Leeds Grand ...(1) It was Shiv Malik who comments on Leeds Grand Mosque, I am commenting on what he has to say.

(2) I explicitly made the point that believers may not follow all doctrines, or all have the same interpretation of such doctrines.

(3) If you follow the links, you will see that I am merely following well documented elements in Islamic theology.

(4) Australia seems to have been somewhat more successful in having less difficulties with Muslim integration than Britain.Lorenzohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00305933404442191098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2197051945822486684.post-75931823426113831122010-06-13T22:32:17.107+10:002010-06-13T22:32:17.107+10:00comment number 2 Anonymous 2

Your comments regarding Leeds Grand Mosque...Hello,

Your comments regarding Leeds Grand Mosque are wide of the mark. The mosque was originally funded by Abu Dhabi and not KSA as you assert:

http://www.leedsgrandmosque.com/mosque/history.asp

Since then, the mosque has been funded by the local muslim community who come from a varied and diverse origin, as the majority of people who attend the mosque are overseas students at one of the Universities in the city.

Also the mosque does not teach or promote a wahabi idealogy.

Links between Leeds Grand Mosque and Siddique Khan are tenuous. I have regularly attended the mosque since 2001 and he was not a regular, as I knew him.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
